Your Brain

Our brains are incredible. Worldwide professionals are still working on understanding how they work.

We know that healthy brains are built starting in pregnancy. They are impacted by many things, including but not limited to genetics, environment, nutrition, general well-being, and social factors.

The great news? There is more and more research showing that we can impact our brain in positive ways our whole lives. Our brains are adaptable and can heal.

Take care,

Weekend Reflections

“Forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.”—Khalil Gibran

Returning from a lovely weekend and taking the time to soak in the memories.

–Working with ourselves–

Recently, I have been reading How to Keep House While Drowning: A Gentle Approach to Cleaning and Organising by KC Davis. It is a clear and easy read about approaching tasks from a practical standpoint and not a moral one. It can help anyone, but I highly recommend it for the parents out there struggling to keep up with the demands of life and home.

While reading this book, I have been watching for ways that I can make my own life a little easier. How can I take the shame out of it on hard days and just get the important things done? Adding in the somatic practice of noticing what gives my own system a little break and nourishing it when I am feeling depleted.

Enter… books from the library that read to you! I had no idea that these existed and have been embracing them at bedtime. Once the story has been read, my toddler loves to read them over and over for practice while I am busy with chores. Sometimes, you have given your all by supper, and it just feels good to turn the page, listen and get those nourishing kiddo snuggles. Bonus points for picking books with art and plots that you are interested in! Now, these are a fun treat for some nights that the kids look forward to and let me just enjoy the moment.

Take care for now!

Sprinkles

It is my intention to sprinkle bits of joy, bits of knowledge and bits of interest in this area.

For today, I am working on my website. As I was working it struck me just how invigorating green can be for tired eyes. Intentionally taking a few moments to notice just how many different shades and textures there are around you. Refreshing!

Today may be a good day to notice something green you are drawn to. What do you you  notice in yourself when you see it?

Take care,

Brianna
