About Me

Hi,
Great to meet you!

My name is Brianna Manton. I work remotely throughout Saskatchewan. I am most often situated in the Treaty 4 and Treaty 6 territories. I am a Registered Social Worker and a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner.

My Why

I vividly remember the day I first wanted  to be a counsellor. It was 2003 and I was watching  Freaky Friday. I thought that getting to ask people “How do you feel about that?'” would be such a privilege. Counsellors get to see people at so many different stages of their lives and that feels magical.  The therapeutic relationship is it’s own unique space that is a joy to be a part of. Over the years, I have worked in different community service areas and have partook in my own mental health supports.  I have seen the difference it makes to feel respectfully supported through our harder moments and the negative impacts of going without. The idea that I get to be a part of somebody’s support team is an honor and something I am genuinely excited about.

My Approach

I treasure my role as a counsellor and know that we would not get to do the work we do without our clients. It is important to me that our work together is a collaboration, therefore, I use a mix of Somatic Experiencing, strengths-based, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and creative modalities based on our discussions and amount of time together.

I am passionate about the connection between mental and physical health.  Growing up, I focused on my cognitive abilities and thought I was getting on pretty well. Suddenly, I was in a position of dealing with chronic illness which led to a lot of research.  The most impactful thing I learned was that my mind and body were disconnected. Somatic work has become a staple in my tool box for both my own health and my clients.

Honesty is very important to me. I will be transparent about what I can offer and am pleased to make referrals for when I am not the right fit. Feedback on how our work together is going is what helps me create the right service for you.

Most importantly, my aim for my practice is to be a welcoming and safe space for all. A safe space to me is where people are able to feel respected while living in alignment with who they are.

A Bit More About Me

I love dabbling in anything creative. Being a beginner is a lot of fun!  I am absolutely in love with creating pottery and someday want to make a tea pot. Singing and dancing  are ways I love to express myself. Writing a novel has  been a long time dream of mine but so far I seem to write more poetry. The sourdough trend recently got me and I have been doing what I can to keep that starter bubbling. I have two large dogs and a cat that love to sleep on me. I am a mother and enjoy playing in water and being barefoot on the grass with my kids. Watching fantasy and comedy shows with my husband are some of my fondest quiet memories.
